Beautiful.....absolutely amazing. I have never seen water so incredibily turquoise. I have been to a lot of different islands, yet never seen anything like this.
The over all island colors from the houses to the sand are just a world of their own. Pinks, teals, coral, yellows, whites and greens. The caribbean is a beautiful place full of great places, but this island is amazing.
People told me I would love it, well they know me all too well. I love the fact that they will give jobs to the locals before an outsider so it makes it hard to move there. If that weren't the case, I would move there in a heart beat.
Horseshoe Bay was unbelieveable!! I am not one to spend hours on end in the ocean but I could of been in this water all day long! The sand was unbelievably soft.....nothing like the god awful new england sand that is course and tough that is totally rough on the tootsies. If I had the option to bring a inflatable tube with me and a nice adult cocktail, I would of been in heaven.
If you intend to spend a considerable amount of time at Horseshoe Bay it is worth while to rent a chair and umbrella. They have showers and fairly clean bathrooms along with a place to grab some food.
Here are some tips that I wish I had known before I left and in all of the research that did I didn't find any of this kind of info.
Take public transportation! It is incredibly cheap.....you can get a multi day pass that allows you to ride the ferries and busses as much as you want. One day is $19 and a 3 day is $44 (as of this post)
Most bus stops don't have any names which is kind of a pain but just ask the driver politely to announce the stop you are looking for and they will for you :) Every driver we had was really nice.
Rent a chair and umbrella for $22 for the day at Horseshoe Bay it is well worth it!
Check out the Frog and Onion Pub at the dockyard. They make their own beer which was pretty good, I had their Whale of a Wheat which is their most pale.
Don't bet on WIFI......you can pay for it on the island but a lot of places have it for you if you are a paying customer.
I am sure there is more, I will update as it comes back to me :)
