So yesterday I booked a night’s stay out on a boat in the bay just north of where I stayed near Tasman Bay. There were no roads to get to where the boat would pick me up so I had to walk there. I had to follow the Abel Tasman coast walk to a place called Anchorage Hut. Ok so on the phone they told me it would be 2 to 3 hour (well that is what the chick told me) bahahahaha hell no! That shit took me almost 4 hours ONE WAY! It was 12.4km there so 7.7 miles and then I would have to do it on the way back. Holy crap! And not to mention but of course I will, I did that with a big backpack full of stuff I would need for the next 24 hours (bathing suit, change of clothes, water, snacks, camera…etc) and that all added up in weight let me tell ya lol.
So I started my trek and the views were amazing. Abel Tasman is definitely a place that you can spend a week or so in. The water is crystal clear in some areas and then teal blues and deep blues all showing the golden sand underneath it.
There were multiple views like this along the way when you were able to see the water. When you were more inland you had the feeling you were in a rain forest. The trees are really tropical and there are tons of ferns (which is their country plant, silver fern), moss and beautiful different green plants everywhere, with a random mushroom here and there.
So 3 hours and 45 minutes later I arrived at the beach where the boat was coming to get me. I must of looked a bit lost because this woman asked me if I was waiting for the boat. I said yes, can you tell I am lost, she said lol no you looked at their sign (whew!! Lol) From then on Anna and I were buddies for the night. They placed us in the last two beds which were placed foot to foot and pretty cramped but we laughed it off. She went for a swim and I headed to the deck to read the new book I had bought a few days back. Anna joined me a bit later and the crew cooked up some food for the boat patrons for dinner. There were burgers (which were great and tasted kind of like meatloaf), sausages (which tasted nothing like what I am used to at home), a mustard kind of rice and cabbage salad. It was a welcome dinner after all of my walking. Anna and I stayed out on the boat talking about all sorts of things, and one of the passangers came over and asked if we wanted the rest of his bottle of wine. I immediately said yes please, it took me about 2 seconds to decide. Hahaha it was from a winery called Villa Maria and it was a merlot and it was fantastic. We each had one glass which was just enough to round out our wonderful time. We toasted to meeting one another and a good day. I made sure to give her my information so hopefully we can keep in touch.
